Founded in 1975 by Cecil DeLoach, the winery has undergone some changes in recent years: the renowned Burgundian family, Boisset became partners in the winery in 2003 and have since taken a leadership role, making improvements to the vineyards and winery that include upgrades to a state-of-the-art winemaking facility and a new, elegant tasting room. DeLoach Vineyards have a strong focus on organics and the estate vineyards are currently in transition to being biodynamically farmed.

Assistant Winemaker: Ginny Lambrix
On vacation in South Africa about five 5 years ago, I tasted my first “real wine”. Up until that point, I had never had the money to buy wine that made people wax poetic. I was working as a chemical ecologist in the former East Germany and made the decision then to make wine. Within a year, I was studying Horticulture and Agronomy in the Master’s program at the University of California - Davis, with an emphasis in Viticulture and Enology. Before joining the DeLoach team in 2004, I worked at Hendry Ranch in Napa, in Chile for Concha y Toro, and for Lynmar in the Russian River Valley.

I finally settled at De Loach for two 2 reasons: Greg LaFollette, our winemaker, and the opportunity to lead the winery in its pursuit of biodynamic farming. Greg is one of
the most respected pinot winemakers in California, if not the world. The prospect of working with him was too good to pass up. In addition, I’ve discovered a passion for
biodynamic farming, which differs from conventional agriculture in that it treats the farm as a closed ecosystem. It is rewarding to be able to apply some of the ecological principles that I studied years ago to the art of growing grapes and making wine.
