Josh Baker is Winemaker at Edna Valley Vineyard in San Luis Obispo, California. He joined the Edna Valley team in 2003 as Cellar Master where he excelled in all aspects of cellar organization and winemaking. He has supplemented his Biology degree and hands-on experience by taking myriad winemaking classes through the University of California, Davis. Josh became Associate Winemaker in 2006 and Winemaker in 2008. After five years studying Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Syrah from the Edna Valley as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the Paso Robles region, he is mastering the wines of this region.
Josh believes in the distinctive nature of Edna Valley Vineyard wines and has committed himself to producing wines that accent the special characters found in the grapes grown in the area.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of the Pacific in 2000, and started his career in the wine industry as a Microbiologist for E&J Gallo Winery shortly thereafter.
