The Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (Wine Company of the North of Spain) or “Cune”, as most people refer to it, was founded in Haro, the heart of the Rioja winemaking region, in 1879. After more than 125 years, it is still in the hands of the founding family, currently in its fifth generation. Throughout this period, Cune has had a clear philosophy based on the constant quest for quality, respecting tradition but being willing to innovate. Nowadays Cune has three different wineries and estates in the Rioja region: the old Cune winery in Rioja Alta, where the wines Cune, Monopole and Imperial are made, the architectural gem and technical feat Viña Real winery, in Rioja Alavesa, and Contino, the first ever single estate winery in Rioja.
